What does financial planning mean to me? Simplifying financial products, so that clients understand what they have now to meet their financial goals for the future.

Professionally

Simon has been in the profession since 1994 gaining experience in nearly all product areas. Most of his career has been spent dealing directly with financial planners.

Day to day Simon regularly meets with clients, helping them with their financial goals. Simon really enjoys having conversations with clients and letting them know they can retire and spend more money in retirement.

Simon is delighted to be working along side such a great team at Smith & Wardle, with the whole team helping to build relationships with clients.

Qualifications

Personally

Simon is married to Vicki and they have two brilliant children. Simon used to play a good level of football, cricket but is now more than happy to be swimming or cycling or running or doing all 3 after each other. Simon is the holder of the “indoor ironman distance” Guinness World Record.

Away from the office, he loves competing in triathlons, having completed 3 ironman triathlons or running in local running races from 5k to marathon distance.

When he’s not running, he enjoys watching his children play football, cricket, swimming or running!

In the spotlight

On an ideal weekend, you can find me:

Before most people wake up, I will be cycling or running then most of the rest of the weekend is filled watching my children's sport or Cambridge United.

My favourite holiday destination is:

Lapland.

My favourite song to play in the car is:

Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes (my sons go to pre match football song).

The first album I bought was:

Hup by The Wonder Stuff.

If I could be any fictional character, I would be:

Kevin from Home Alone.

If I could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, I would win a medal in:

Falling to sleep (any time and any place or any where!).

The three qualities that draw me to new people are:

Honesty, hard working and a love of sport.

My pet peeve is:

People being late, especially for Zoom or Teams meetings.

The three people at my dream dinner party would be:

My late Dad, Mo and my son Matthew.

The best gift I’ve ever received is:

My children.

The three small things that make my day better are:

Seeing my kids with a huge smile on their faces. Getting out to exercise, normally very early in the morning. Chilling with a beer on the sofa with my wife.
