How has your firm developed since you opened in 2020?
The pandemic coincided with Smith and Wardle launching. We quickly discovered that clients were drawn to us because of our fixed-fee planning structure, rather than the traditional percentage fee structure within our industry.
As a result, we expanded our advice team from 2 to 5 quickly. An essential factor in our expansion was that we wanted our new advisers to largely start their advising journey with us, and we made a conscious effort to train advisers from scratch.
Whilst very demanding, this has been incredibly rewarding and worthwhile. It has enabled our newer advisers to be more in tune with the ever-changing regulatory position within our industry.
With the expansion of our advice team, this led to an expansion of our support team, growing from 3 to 6, to include specialist roles, which are often sadly lacking in our industry.
Do I need to come to your office for meetings?
We are happy to have client meetings in the office or remotely via Teams or Zoom. Meeting in the office can be a more traditional way of scoping us out, experiencing how we operate, and meeting the team.
Do I need to add VAT onto your fees?
At the time of writing this answer, we are not required to charge VAT on our “Planning Fees”. However, if this changes, we will amend this answer!
Will my relationship be with just my adviser?
We all work collaboratively, drawing on the wealth of experience within the advice team. In this way, we are able to share ideas and pool resources. In the same way, the support team works together to ensure our clients receive the best possible, personal service. Our clients are individuals, not a number.
Do I need to live locally to use your services?
Thanks to advances in technology, we can provide initial and ongoing financial planning advice via video calls and therefore, are able to advise clients far and wide – we have clients in all four corners of the UK.
Is there parking at your office?
We have 7 allocated, reserved parking slots. 6 of which run parallel to Bury Mead Road, immediately after you turn into Gloverside. An additional reserved space is at the rear of the offices, backing onto the hedge. Alternatively, there is additional parking within the centre of the rear car park, or street parking is free.
