Andrew and Ann-Marie

We’re a professional couple with no kids. I run my own marketing business and Ann-Marie works in the City. We work really hard and even manage to put some money aside for a rainy day. We’ve dabbled in stocks and shares but without any clear strategy.

We came to realise that without a financial plan, we’d keep on drifting towards distant future ambitions without any concrete dates, timescales, values or milestones.  We talked about getting some financial advice for maybe three or four years. But kept putting it off. Finally, through a recommendation we found Helena and everything changed. Suddenly, we could see a pathway to retirement, a potential holiday home or that camper van we’ve always wanted!

Helena helped us with: Prioritising paying off our mortgage rather than accumulating low interest cash savings; Re-balancing our investment asset classes; Suggesting specific funds which better matched our attitude to risk; Calculating the affordability of a second home; Advising on pension transfers.

We agreed with Helena to check in every couple of years to make sure we are still on track or if a specific need arose. We’re happy managing our own investments on a day-to-day basis, but find it useful to know that support is there if we need it. A fixed fee is agreed in advance with Helena, so we all know where we stand.

To anyone thinking of getting some financial advice, we’d say don’t put if off. It really sorts your head out.
